Sarah Thompson Moore (b. 1986) is an artist living and working in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Trained as a mold-maker and bronze foundry artisan, she studied in Florence, Italy and later graduated from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in 2015 with a focus in sculpture. Upon completing a Model to Monument fellowship in 2016 from the Art Student’s League, NYC, Sarah began expanding her sculptural viewpoint from inside the studio to the outdoor environment. She has since exhibited monumental sculpture along the Hudson River in Manhattan, Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, NY and has permanent sculptural installations on the Florida Keys Sculpture Trail and in both People’s Park and Riverfront Park in Spokane, WA. In 2023 Sarah completed an 800 square foot LithoMosaic embedded in concrete on Alki Beach Trail in West Seattle and also worked as part of a multidisciplinary team of architects and designers to create a Downtown Waterfront Master Plan for the lakefront town of Sandpoint, Idaho. An enrolled member of the Cow Creek Band of the Umpqua Tribe of Indians of Southern Oregon, Sarah is a student of traditional basketry and language. These teachings inform her work, which often develops through consultation with regional Tribes. Creating site-specific artwork allows Sarah the freedom to work in a variety of capacities and to explore many methods and materials to engage with themes of Nature, history, culture, and scale.
