Sarah Thompson Moore was born in Eastern Oregon and now makes her home in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Her studies have taken her to Florence, Italy and later, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania where she obtained her BFA in Sculpture from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. A trained bronze foundry artisan and master mold-maker, Thompson Moore’s early work involved comprehensive study of the figure for which she has received awards and private commissions. This technical background established the foundation from which she has expanded her creative practice to include experimental materials and concepts, diving deeper into both the process of creating and the experience of viewing.

In addition to her studio practice, Thompson Moore creates monumental site specific public sculptures, the most recent of which was an installation along the Hudson River in Manhattan, Everything Between, now permanently placed on the Florida Keys Sculpture Trail. Ever-changing in relation to its surroundings, she welcomes Nature as a collaborative force within her work. Utilizing a variety of materials including steel, concrete, natural and recycled, Thompson Moore generates sensory experiences from her sculptures to provide opportunity for contemplation, reflection and communion with Nature. Her next public artworks will be installed in Spokane, WA in 2020 and in Seattle, WA in 2021.
